Sea Garden House
Sea Garden House, Jan Juc (4/2018-Designed)
This design was for Alterations and Additions to an existing double-story residential dwelling. We proposed to refurbish and re-work the dwelling, while reducing the overall footprint to allow for more usable rear garden space. The intention was to demolish a section of the building at the NW end, along with the existing pool and all the external ground floor decking which is to be replaced with a newly planted garden, including a small natural pool. The street frontage was to remain largely intact.
The external materials were to include both new and existing blockwork which is rendered with a light grey cement render. Hardwood timber cladding with clear penetrative sealer is proposed for the Deck, Rumpus and balustrade. The window frames are to constructed from timber, with some shaded by steel Colorbond ‘Monument’ hoods.
The colours chosen were to be earthy, yet sleek and intended to enhance the connection between the dwelling and the native vegetation of the site and broader coastal environs.
