River Valley House

The River Valley House, Waurn Ponds (01/2010 - 04/2012)

A new single-story dwelling with water tanks and wastewater treatment system on a mildly sloping grassed site.  The dwelling includes 5 Bedrooms with open Living, Dining, Kitchen and associated spaces.  A double garage, store and generous terraced areas have also been provided.  External materials include sandstone blade walls, compressed sheet with paint finish and ‘Colorbond’ tray deck roof.  The form of the building is well articulated with material selection enhancing the connection between the dwelling and rural landscape.

The sites location is such that the natural topography of the hillside blocks the view of the site and proposed dwelling from this vantage route.  The single-story design of the building will also sit well within the site and its environment.  Further landscaping and planting at the site will further integrate the dwelling into its surrounds, with improved screening between adjoining owners and the streetscape.
